William Walter Obituary

William "Farmer" Walter, 76, of Rochester, Illinois passed away on January 4, 2021.  He was born August 15, 1945 to parents John and Lillian (Rhoades) Walter.
He married Shaun Shrum September 18, 1981 in Rochester, Illinois.  He is survived  by his wife Shaun, step daughters Susan (George) Walsh of Missouri and Debe (deceased husband Doug) Buck of Charleston, SC, granddaughter Brittany (Lee) Mendenhall; great grandchildren, Wesley and Emma; Sisters, Deloris (Bert) Barber and Ellen (Gary) Ahrens; brother, Richard (Joan) Walter, and several nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Dorothy Perrine, Ruth Green, Barbara Hunter and Evelyn Walter; Brother, Lester Walter and  Step daughter Sandra March
William served his country during the Viet Nam War, and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal of Honor.
He and his wife Shaun enjoyed many years at their cabin on the Illinois River fishing and boating. 
A graveside service with military honors for family will be scheduled  at a later date.
