Thomas Senalik

Thomas Senalik, 81, of Springfield, IL passed away at Memorial Hospital on Friday November 4, 2022 in the comfort of his family. 

Tom was born in Springfield on April 30, 1941, the son of John and Lottie Senalik.  

He graduated from Lanphier High School in 1959, quickly entered the work force, and met and married the love of his life Barbara Jean Grimmer.  Tom and Barb were married on July 13, 1963 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Tom and his brother John built the house that he and his wife have resided in for the last 55 years.  It is a house that has been filled with love, laughter and joy. 

He began his career as a machinist at Sangamo Electric before moving on and retiring from Dickey-john.  He embarked on a new journey, starting his own machining business which blossomed.  He handed the business down to his son and always remained a creative and knowledgeable mentor. 

  He was an active member of his community, involved with little league baseball, cub scouts and deeply involved with the Deveraux Heights Knights of Columbus.  He was often found working the fish fry on Friday nights and playing shuffleboard on Monday nights. 

  Tom enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He could often be found fishing, hunting and camping. He spent time traveling with family and friends. He found pleasure wood carving and absolutely loved dancing with his wife. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and always up for an adventure.   

Tom lived his life unapologetically and to the fullest. He could always be counted on for a laugh or a story, and never knew a stranger. 

He loved his wife and family completely. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Tom is survived by his wife, Barb of Springfield; sons, Mike (Jody) Senalik of Williamsville, Scott Senalik of Wausau, WI, and Kent (Jess) Senalik of Springfield; grandchildren, Chad, Cassidy, Cora, Kristin, Wyatt, Veronica, Dustin, Emilie, Siena, and Tessa Senalik; brother, John (Mary Lou) Senalik of Springfield and sister, Donna (Don) Davis of Springfield; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Cremation services are being accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12 from 3pm to 7pm at the Knights of Columbus located at 2801 West Street, Springfield, Illinois 62707.
