Norma J. Lynn, 81, of Oakford, IL passed away peacefully at home on May 9th, 2021. She was born January 27th, 1940 in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of Fred Cohenour and Maudie Clark.
Norma married Harold Wayne Lynn on March 26th, 1960 in Havana, Illinois. The couple went on to raise three children and many grandchildren together over several decades.
Norma retired as a Park Ranger at Lincoln’s New Salem State Park after more than 30 years of service. Upon retirement she continued to help raise grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her most treasured moments included spending time with family, extravagantly decorating her yard with many hand fashioned ornaments, planning and planting her flower and vegetable garden, fishin’, froggin’, and frying chicken, in addition to numerous other talents and hobbies. Norma had many titles throughout her life; Mom, grandma, sister, aunt, but one she loved most was “Old lady from Oakford.”
Norma is survived by her children Tammy McBride (Jason B. Johnson) of Oakford and Dennis (Debra) Lynn of Oakford; Seven grandchildren, Kristina (Matthew) Yeates, Keith McBride, Koadey Lynn, Kyle (Alyssa Ash) McBride, Koarey Lynn, Pandora Lynn, and Alexandria Lynn; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Diane Larson, Donna “Fenie” Lynn, and Sharon McKinney; two brothers, Edward “Peck” Allen, Sr. and Bill Allen; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband Harold W. Lynn; her son Gary B. Lynn; three sisters, Karen Cohenour, Alice Brackney, and Judy Otto; two brothers Richard “Butch” Cohenour and George Cohenour.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 14th, 2021 at Oakford Cemetery in Oakford, IL. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Oakford Hall for food and refreshments after the service to celebrate Norma.
