Mark Coultas Obituary

Mark W. Coultas, 42, of Springfield IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Mark was born in Pittsfield, IL on March 29, 1980, son of Mark Coultas and Susie (Little) Schmidt. Mark graduated from Rochester High School in 1999 and then served in the US Navy from 2000-2004. After serving his country, for the next 14 years Mark worked alongside his father as a carpenter. In 2019 Mark completed the welding program through MTI of Springfield IL thus fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a welder. Up until his passing Mark was a traveling welder for RRS Energy Services. Mark always took pride in his work and was determined for it to be perfect no matter how long it took.

Mark loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, canoeing, riding 4-wheelers, and anything to do with nature.

Mark had a passion for cooking and loved to cook beef and rice for his daughter Mya any chance he could.

Mark’s smile would light up the room; his energy and laugh were unforgettable; and if you ever received a hug from Mark, you know just how genuine and special they truly were.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Peggy and Bill Coultas; maternal grandparents Eva Ann and Donald Little; one brother Trae Schmidt; three uncles, Roger and Charles Coultas and David Lacy.

Mark is survived by his daughter Mya Abigail Coultas; his father Mark (companion Cindy) Coultas; his mother Susie (Loren) Schmidt; two brothers Matt Coultas and Shane Foster; one sister, Charlotte Rae Symmonds; maternal aunts and uncles Irlyn Lacy, Melody (Randy) Wheeler, Donnie Little, Irl (Rhonda) Robinson, Rhonda Lee, Betsy (Mark) Pulliam, and Chris (Sonya) Little and one paternal uncle, Mike Coultas.
