Jim McCormick Obituary

Jim McCormick (James Mark), of Springfield, died on Monday April 19 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Jim was born on July 26, 1959, to Ben and Janet (Reynolds) McCormick.

Jim attended Springfield High School and Lincoln Land Community College. The family owned The Knit and Rip Shop, where Jim worked as a teenager. Later the family added Springfield Clock Company, where Jim worked most of his adult life. Jim was also a landlord with rental units around the city of Springfield.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his only child, Jason McCormick, who died at the young age of 13.

Jim is survived by his brother, John McCormick; close family friend Christopher Crothers; sister Lynn (Dan) O’Keefe; nephew Mike (Meghan Klein) O’Keefe; niece Kelly (Casey) Miller; great nephew Cooper Miller;  great niece Parker Miller; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jim’s cremains will be buried next to his parents at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. A brief outdoor gravesite ceremony will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday April 29. Those wishing to attend can meet at Calvary’s main office to be lead to the gravesite by the funeral director.
