Dorothy J. "Dotty" (Sloop) Welch

Dorothy J. “Dotty” Welch, 88, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Carriage Crossing Senior Living in Rochester.

Dotty was born on October 8, 1934, in Nortonville, KS, the daughter of Joe and Lois (Fulton) Sloop. She married Robert L. “Bob” Welch on November 27, 1954 in Oskaloosa, KS and he survives. Dotty worked as a teacher for Deland-Weldon Schools for 4 years before moving to Clinton Jr. High where she taught for 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Rochester Christian Church and  an avid golfer, enjoyed quilting, reading, taking trips to Hawaii and always enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family.

Dotty is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joe Sloop.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Curt (Mary Beth) Welch, Ann Gerrond, Mark (Linda) Welch, and Jane (Nathan) Fields; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, George (Nancy) Sloop; sister, Katherine Pautz; sister-in-law, Glenda Sloop and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Rochester Christian Church from 9:30AM until the time of the funeral service at 10:30AM with Pastors Brad Ferris and David Upchurch officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rochester Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
