Della Weakley Obituary

Della Mae (Homer) Weakley, 95, of Springfield, IL passed away at her home on Wednesday March 20, 2024 in the company of her family.

Della was born in Pontiac, IL on December 10, 1928 the daughter of Jacob and Loretta (Stewart) Homer.

She was a homemaker all of her adult life, raising a large family and being a grandmother to many. Della loved bowling for over 50 years and is in the Springfield Women’s Bowling Association (SWBA) Hall of Fame.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Owen Weakley; son, Dean Weakley; grandsons, Jeremy Miller and Brian Guinn; one sister and one brother.

Della is survived by her children, Diane Guinn of Springfield, Debbie Weakley of Springfield, David Weakley (wife, Laura) of Sherman, Doretta Morgan (husband, Jimmie) of Springfield, Dina Mytar (husband, Rick) of Springfield, Danette “Nan” Allers (husband, Jim) of Divernon, Dulcie Weakley of Petersburg, and Darin Weakley (wife, Rhonda) of Lindon, TN; sister, Mary Loretta Shutty of Joliet; friend and neighbor, Eric Siwak of Springfield; 23 Grandchildren; 48 Great Grandchildren; 18 Great Great Grandchildren; 3 Step Grandchildren; 14 Step Great Grandchildren; and 4 Step Great Great Grandchildren.

Della is donating her body to science.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday April 6th, 2024 from 1 pm to 5 pm at Real Life Church North Campus, 2450 Taylor Ave, Springfield, IL 62703.

Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
