Darlene Capella

Darlene Capella, 87, of Springfield, died on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Villas Senior Care in Sherman.

She was born on June 11, 1933, in Salem, IL. The daughter of Montgomery and Matilda (Kuchar) Parris. She married William Capella Sr on June 7, 1958 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Darlene was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church and would later join Jerome United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She retired from the City of Springfield as a Secretary to the City Fire Marshall.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, John and Dean Parris; and one sister Ione Benefield.

Darlene is survived by her two sons, Bill (wife, Bonita) and David (wife, Susie) Capella; three grandsons; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Parris; and one sister, Betty Stoneham.

Cremation rites were accorded by Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home, 530 N. Fifth Street, Springfield, IL. 62702

Burial will be with her husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 11:00AM with Pastor Donn Stephens Officiating.

Family and friends may arrive at the cemetery pavilion 10 minutes prior to the service time and are asked that they wear face coverings while at the cemetery.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at Fulgenzi's Pizza & Pasta at 12PM, 1168 E Sangamon Ave, Springfield, IL 62702 after the grave side services.
