Bernice P Renken

Bernice Pauline Renken, 89, of Springfield, IL passed away on Friday January 14, 2022 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

Bernice was born in Pleasant Plains, IL on March 21, 1932 the daughter H. George and Martha Renken.

She worked for Food Center, Illinois Bell, Hiram Walker Distillery in Peoria and the State Department of Financial Intuition where she retired on March 21, 1997. She “Dutch” was a fast softball pitcher for Madison Furniture Co. of Springfield, Thompson Girls of Spring Valley and the Pegwell Packing Co. of Springfield. She also belonged to Girls 4-H, and the Zion Lutheran Church.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Florence Renken.

She is survived by her sister, Mariellen Crosmer of Lewistown, MT and sister, Joann DeCroix of Springfield; as well as several, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, 525 N Cartwright St, Pleasant Plains, IL 62677 from 12:00pm till the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Gross of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Petersburg will be officiating.
