John Harris Obituary

John Michael Harris, 64, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his residence.

John was born on November 5, 1953 in Springfield the son of Frank and Margaret Sullivan Harris; He married Jean Mataya on October 27, 1973 in Springfield.

He worked for the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid and then he went on to work for Western Illinois University as a project manager and retired from LZT Associates.  He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Frank and Jake Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Harris; children, Amy (Jay) Harris-Roberts of Williamsville, Lindsay (Christian) Kennerly of Hawaii, Michael (Megan) Harris of St. Louis, Leigh (Corey Gunnell) Harris of St. Louis, Jeffrey (Alex Clardy) Harris of St. Louis, and Abbie Harris of St. Louis; grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Madison and Chase Roberts, Liliana and Nora Kennerly, and Evie and Frankie Harris; siblings, Charles (Mary Lou) Harris of Buffalo, William (Carolyn) Harris of Springfield, and Robert (Margaret) Harris of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Manuel Cuizon officiating.
