David D. Dowling, of Rochester, passed away on November 28, 2017 at his home in Rochester surrounded by his loved ones.

David was born on May 15, 1935 in Chicago, the son of John and June (Duffy) Dowling. After his mother’s passing during his infancy, his father married Helen Heald who helped raise him. He married Corann “Cory” Goley and she survives.

David attended secondary school at St. Procopius Academy in Lisle and later went on to receive his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Eastern Illinois University.  He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and was in the Air Force Training Command Unit. David was a Labor Relations Administrator for the State of Illinois.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed doing many activities with his wife and daughter, enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved animals. He loved hiking, skiing, whitewater rafting and zip lining. He traveled to every state in the U.S. and traveled abroad. He was proud to have achieved 3 “holes in one” in golf. David was an avid Chicago Bears, Illini, and White Sox fan.

He is survived by his wife, Corann “Cory”; daughter, Anna Mei Ying Dowling; brother-in-law, Robert DeWayne (Jennifer) Goley; brother-in-law, Lawrence E. (Jerre) Goley, Jr; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday December 2, 2017 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Reverend David Upchurch officiating. Cremation will follow services.

Memorials may be made to the Central Illinois Food Bank or the Animal Protective League of Springfield, IL.
