Frederick Theilen Obituary

Frederick W. Theilen, 87, of Bluffton, S.C. Formerly of Chatham, passed away at 4:00AM on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Hilton Head Hospital in Hilton Head, S.C.
Fred was born on June 29, 1933 in Springfield, IL. the son of George and Helena (Evers) Theilen. He married Beryl Rose Criner on November 29, 1964 and she preceded him in death on August 5, 2014. Fred worked as a farmer until 1983 and then drove a truck for Arkansas Best Freight before retiring. He is a Korean War Navy Veteran, a member of Teamsters 916 in Springfield, the American Legion and enjoyed volunteering at Live Oak Christian Church in Bluffton, S.C. He continuously watched RFD TV and enjoyed visiting with people. Fred was also an avid Girl Scout grandpa and enjoyed selling cookies.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Beryl; son, Fred; daughter-in-law Sonya and an infant sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Ron) Theilen-Blankenship of Bluffton, S.C.; 3 grandchildren William & Irene Blankenship of Bluffton, S.C.,  Anastasia Theilen of Springfield and one great granddaughter Gracelyn.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street, in Rochester from 10:00 until 11:00AM with a funeral service following for close friends and family will be held.
Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
