Dan Dodson, 57, of East Peoria passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria.  He was born September 25, 1959, in Springfield, being the youngest of three children, to Paul and Shirley (Buehler) Dodson.  They preceded him in death.

Dan married Lisa Stretch on August 31, 1985.  She survives along with their two sons, Kyle Daniel Dodson of Beardstown and Cole Ryan Dodson of East Peoria.  Also surviving, is his brother, Bill and (Tracey) Dodson and his sister Nancy and (Shawn) Beasley.

Dan was a graduate of Richwoods High School.  Following High School, he went on to have a 32- year career with the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department, retiring in 2014.

Dan was adored by all who knew him. His strongest attribute was being such a caring and kind hearted man, openly sharing his love with family and friends. Dan had a competitive spirit and was a passionate athlete.  After many years of playing sports, he became involved in coaching.   Not only did he teach the game of baseball, he served as a mentor and a role model.  In his recent years, Dan enjoyed working in the yard (riding his mower), boating, and hanging out on a beach.  Dan and Lisa enjoyed many, many adventures together in their 31 years of marriage.  

There will be a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at EastPort Banquet and Meeting Center, 703 Mariners Way, East Peoria, IL 61611.  Fellowship will follow until 4:00 p.m.
