Evelyn “June” Moss, 92, of Quincy, formerly of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Illinois Veterans Home.

June was born on February 20, 1924 in Springfield the daughter of Everett and Juliet Hollis DeFrates.  She married George Moss on February 22, 1947.

She worked for JCPenny’s up until the time of her marriage and then became a homemaker.  She was a Democrat Election Judge and a Hellkitten with the 12th Armored Division Association.  She was a member the Postal Auxiliary and attended Knox Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carolyn S. Moss DeFoor; one brother, Raymond E. DeFrates; and one sister, Alice Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, George Moss of Quincy; two daughters, Cheryl L. Moss Eggleston of Riverton, and Beverly A. (Ed) Moss Bakowski of Springfield; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Paula Carmichael officiating.  Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
